Closing up should take ten minutes, not an hour with a calculator. PHP Point Of Sale tracks the drawer from the moment you open it. Count the float in, denomination by denomination, and the register will not sell until you have. Then record anything that goes in or comes out during the day, with a reason and a comment, so the drawer is never short without an explanation. At the end of the shift, count the drawer and enter what's actually in it. The system already knows what should be there.
The closeout report is what your manager reads: takings broken down by payment type, the cash that should be in the drawer, and the over or short if it doesn't match. Payment reporting shows the split between cash, cards, gift cards and accounts over any period, so you can reconcile against your bank rather than against a memory. And every open, close, add and remove is logged with the employee who did it, per register and per store.
