PHP Point Of Sale: Complete Retail POS Overview
Most point of sale demos stop at the receipt. This one starts there. Watch a real sale go through the register, then follow it into the inventory it moved, the customer record it updated, the purchase order it triggered and the reports it fed.

Retailers rarely outgrow the checkout part of a point of sale. They outgrow everything behind it: stock that is only right in one store, purchasing that lives in a spreadsheet, and reporting that cannot tell them which category paid the rent. This video is about the part behind the counter.

Your point of sale shouldn't stop at the sale. Because the moment a customer pays, six other things in your business need to know. PHP Point Of Sale is built so they all do.
Start where your staff spend the day. Scan a barcode, or type part of a name, and it's on the ticket. Sizes and colors come through as their own stock, so the ticket records the exact variation that left the shelf. Pull up the customer and the register already knows their pricing tier, their loyalty balance and everything they have bought before. Split the payment across a card, a gift card and cash if that's what they hand you. Then the receipt prints, and the interesting part begins.
Every line on that receipt moved your inventory. Stock is tracked per location, so Boulder and Denver each have their own count, in the same catalog. Set a reorder level once and the low inventory report tells you what to buy, by location, before a customer finds the gap. Raise a purchase order, receive it when the boxes land, and the cost, the quantity and the margin all update together.
The same is true of your customers. They're not anonymous transactions. Every profile carries their purchase history, loyalty points, balance and the price tier they buy at, from a club member to a guiding company on pro rates. Accounts you invoice sit in the same place as walk-in shoppers, with credit limits, statements and balances tracked as they buy.
Which means by the end of the week, the system already knows the answers. Sales, profit and margin by day, with tax broken out and every figure clickable down to the transaction behind it. Your best and worst sellers. Performance by category, employee, supplier, customer and store. Over a hundred reports ship with it, and the ones you use every morning can be saved as favorites, so they're one click away.
And this is where most people are surprised by how far it goes. Run several stores from one system, each with its own taxes, pricing and stock, and move inventory between them. Give every employee exactly the access their role needs, track commission, and keep profit visible only to managers. Take repairs in as work orders alongside retail. Connect Shopify or WooCommerce so online and in-store share one stock figure. Push to QuickBooks, and build the rest on the API.
