Retail Sales & Profit Reporting

Informes y análisis guía de 1:35 Subtítulos en inglés Transcripción completa abajo

Knowing what you sold is easy. Knowing which of it was worth selling is the question. This walkthrough goes through the reports a manager opens on a Monday morning, and how to narrow them until they answer something.

Lo que verá

  • The sales summary: subtotal, tax, total, profit and margin
  • Filtering by date, location, category, supplier, employee or tier
  • Category performance, best sellers and worst sellers
  • Profit and loss, employee performance and commission
  • Sales by day of week and hour, and tax reporting
  • Building a custom question with the sales search

Por qué importa

A report you cannot filter is a report you cannot act on. Being able to ask "which category, in which store, compared to last month" turns reporting from a monthly ritual into a buying decision.

Most point of sale reporting tells you what you sold. The useful question is which of it was worth selling. PHP Point Of Sale ships with well over a hundred reports, grouped the way a store thinks: sales, inventory, customers, employees, payments, tax and cash. Start with the sales summary. Subtotal, tax, total and profit for the period, with margin worked out per day and the whole thing broken down underneath. Then narrow it. Any report takes a date range, one location or several, and filters for category, supplier, customer, employee or pricing tier — and it will compare the result against another period.

Category performance shows you where the money is really made. Top sellers show what to reorder; worst sellers show what to stop buying. Profit and loss puts sales, cost of goods and expenses together. Employee reporting shows who's selling and what commission they have earned. Sales by day of week and by hour tell you when to roster staff. Tax reporting gives you the figure you actually file. And when a question doesn't match a report, the sales search will build it: any combination of item, customer, employee, payment type and date, exported straight to a spreadsheet.

Your point of sale already has the data. This is what it does with it.
