A takeout order is only as good as the ticket that doesn't get lost. There's nothing new to learn at the counter. Ring the order up the way you already do, and suspend it under a type like Takeout or Dine In — that's what sends it to the kitchen. It lands on the board under New Orders — the order number, its type, and a timer that starts counting from the moment it was placed. The kitchen moves each ticket forward — New, Preparing, Ready, Delivered — one order at a time. Modifiers ride along on the card, including the free ones, like no onions.
Mark it ready, and the counter finds out — on the board, and as a pop-up on the touch register where real-time updates are available. Recall the ticket to take payment, split however it needs to be — a deposit up front, two cards, or cash and a gift card, whatever the order calls for. Delivered orders clear the board on their own. Complete the sale, and it's gone — no reprinting, no lost tickets.
